For any of the
utulity service connection to your house or apartment you need to
have your resident permit and passport copy and write a request
letter to the general office of the service in your area.
Electric
Services (Elektrik)
Electric bills are issued every month. Payment is by automatic bank
withdrawal or at banks listed on monthly bill. Overdue bills are
paid at your district Electric Department Central Office There is
a significant late charge for overdue bills.

Telephone (Telefon)
Home phone service is much more reliable than it used to be and
much easier to have installed. You can call 161 (or a Turkish speaking
friend) give your address and passport details over the phone. You
will be given an appointment for installation and your new telephone
number in few minutes. Be in the house on the appointment day with
your resident permit and passport copy. They may not be on time
but they will come. Try to fix it to morning or afternoon.

Water (Su)
Water bills are issued every two months. They can be paid through
automatic bank withdrawal or at the banks listed on the bill or
at your district's Water Department General Office (ISKI Genel Müdürlüğü).

Cable TV (Kablolu TV)
Cable TV service can be obtained from your district's Telephone
Department General Office with a written request for service. Bills
are issued monthly and can be paid by automatic bank withdrawal
or at the banks listed on the bill. Overdue bills are paid at the
telephone office.
Natural Gas (Dogalgaz)
Most homes have been equipped with natural gas for heating. Sometimes,
the cost of gas is included in your monthly general building charges.
If your gas is handled separately from the general apartment, your
monthly bills are paid through automatic bank withdrawal or through
payment at the banks listed on the bill. Some ovens and bathroom
water heating units used LPG gas tubes. These are sold on trucks
that rove the neighbourhoods, often playing a catchy jingle to advertise
their presence. They can also be summoned by phone. With a nice
tip, they will happily shoulder the tubes, even up six flights of
