Akmerkez is a
shopping mall located in the Etiler quarter of Istanbul, Turkey. It
was established in 1993.
The shopping area,
offering visitors close to 250 stores and approximately 2-2.5
million people visit the shopping center monthly. It provides
women's, men's and children's clothing and textiles, stationery,
toys, sports shoes, eyewear and gift shops along with restaurants, a
hairdresser, a currency exchange office, electronic goods, car
maintenance, shoe shine services, a dry cleaner, a tailor, travel
agents, orthopedic goods and a supermarket. The shopping mall is now
home to the world famous chic Italian restaurant Paper Moon,
following branches in Milan and New York.
Transportation services are provided free of charge for tourists
staying in nearby business centers and hotels, allowing for a
greater variety of visitors. Visitors spend an average of 3.5 hours
in Akmerkez.
In
1995, Akmerkez was chosen as the best shopping center in Europe by
the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). In the
competition, organized by this same council, Akmerkez was recognized
as the best shopping center in the world in 1996. It also received
the highest accolade given by the ICSC, the "International Design
and Development Award". It is the only shopping center in the world
to receive both of these awards. |

Cevahir

Cevahir Shopping Centre, opened on 15 October 2005, is a modern
shopping and entertainment centre located in the Şişli district of
Istanbul, Turkey. Cevahir Mall is the largest shopping centre in
Europe, and the sixth largest in the world.
There are 343 shops,
some of which are the first in Turkey to sell certain international
brands; 34 fast food restaurants and 14 exclusive restaurants in the
shopping centre. Other facilities include a large stage for shows
and other events; 12 cinemas including a private theatre and a
cinema for children; a bowling hall; a small roller coaster; and
several other entertainment facilities.
The shopping centre is situated in the business quarter on the
European side of Istanbul between Şişli and Mecidiyeköy and also can
be reached easily by Istanbul metro. Three floors of the shopping
centre are connected directly to the metro line. There are many
international brands in the shopping centre as well as locally based
stores and Turkish restaurants, offering local dishes such as
milk-based desserts and kebabs. |

Kanyon is a multi-purpose complex in the
Levent financial district which consists of a shopping mall, a 30-floor
office tower and a 22-floor residential block. It unites 179
residential apartments, an office tower and a 160 store retail space.
There is a direct access to the Levent metro station from the
shopping mall.
Kanyon won the 2006 Cityscape
Architectural Review Award in the "Commercial Built" category,
during a ceremony which was held in Dubai on 4 December 2006. |

Metrocity, opened on April 30 2003, is a modern shopping mall in the
finance and business quarter of 1. Levent in with a direct
connection to 1. Levent metro station.
Metrocity features 140 stores offering
international and domestic labels, variety of restaurants and
cafeterias on 4 floors with a covered area of 60,000 m². There is a
MMM Migros supermarket, a department store and a strong food court.
The complex’s parking lot has a capacity of 2,500 cars. |

Istinye Park is in the
Istinye quarter of Istanbul with 291 stores, 85,250
sqm of retail area, and four levels of underground
parking.
The
center features both enclosed and open air sections.
The open air section has a green central park and
offers street side shopping.
The center includes
an authentic Turkish Food bazaar- a traditional
market place, inspired by Turkish Architecture and
history.
There is a cinema in
the mall which has 12 screen. |
